In addition to a number of other prominent castings, the CW's "Riverdale" pilot has added one more name to its cast list. Deadline has learned that Madelaine Petsch will play Cheryl Blossom on the series. Deadline describes the character as "rich, entitled and never accountable. A manipulative mean girl who kills with kindness, she recently lost her twin brother in a mysterious accident."

"Riverdale" made a number of other major casting announcements yesterday. Luke Perry will portray Fred Andrews, Archie's father, and KJ Apa will play Archie himself. Additionally Ashleigh Murray will play Josie (of Josie and the Pussycats).

"Riverdale" is set to be a "subversive" take on the long-running Archie Comics characters, set to explore the "darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade." Greg Berlanti -- a major comics-to-TV success with "Arrow," "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow" -- is on board as producer, and the pilot script is by Archie's Chief Creative Officer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
