Yesterday, "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds was quick to deny reports that he would appear as the Merc with a Mouth in Hugh Jackman's "Logan," but that doesn't mean he's against teaming up with Wolverine in a future film. On Twitter, Reynolds revealed that he's still interested in a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover, but that the tone just isn't right for such a team up in "Logan."

No. I want a Deadpool/Wolvie film. But Logan is its own unique & perfect thing. The Big Red Shit-Talker wouldn't mix with the tone. https://t.co/35WpEJLJ10

The report that Deadpool would appear in "Logan" circulated yesterday and claimed that Wolverine and Deadpool would interact in a post-credits sequence, not as part of the film’s larger narrative. However, “Logan” director and writer James Mangold was quick to debunk that rumor, with Reynolds following suit just minutes after.

Nevertheless, Reynolds is still game to work with Jackman in the future, and he hasn't been shy about that. Earlier this month, he said, “I want Deapdool and Wolverine in a movie together... What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line.”

As such, Reynolds' latest Tweet isn't out of line with his earlier statements. Additionally, it took him nearly eleven years to convince Fox to make his R-rated version of "Deadpool," so it makes sense that he'd want to wait to get the tone just right on a potential Wolverine/Deadpool crossover film. However, Jackman has gone on record to say that he is retiring the character of Wolverine, so Reynolds may need a little help convincing the longtime "X-Men" star to reprise the role in a future film.

Set years after the epilogue of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Logan” centers on the efforts of Wolverine and Charles Xavier to protect a young girl named Laura, who has been confirmed as the Marvel Comics character X-23. Opening March 3, 2017, “Logan” also stars Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen. “Deadpool 2” is expected to start production early next year.
