A new report indicates that Zack Stentz ("Power Rangers," "X-Men: First Class") is writing a "Booster Gold" film -- which was previously reported to be in development as a Blue Beetle team-up movie -- with Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Supergirl") executive producing.

According to Birth.Movies.Death., Berlanti is also looking to direct the "Booster Gold" film, which would serve as a lighter extension of the DC film universe that's already been established. They note that this film would take place of the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold film that was reportedly in development.

DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns addressed the possibility of a "Booster Gold" movie a couple months back, offering some optimistic words: "You'll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there's talks about...there's actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters."

Berlanti was previously involved with the character when he was producing a pilot script for a potential "Booster Gold" television series. Lately he's been tied up producing "Arrow," "The Flash," "Legends of Tomorrow" and the upcoming live-action Archie adaptation "Riverdale," among other projects.

Created by Dan Jurgens for his self-titled series, Booster Gold went on to gain widespread recognition as a member of the "Justice League" and "Justice League International," before going on to appear in Jurgens' "Death of Superman" storyline. While he doesn't currently star in a series, the character headlined his own book from 2007-2011, prior to the New 52 reboot.
