Last night's episode of "Supergirl"

not only adapted a classic comic book story, it integrated the story into the series' overall plotline -- and killed off a major character along the way. Today, CBS has released three of the episode's most pivotal scenes, including the aforementioned death.

"Supergirl" Recap: The Episode That Has Everything (For Better or Worse)

First, see the Black Mercy, created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons in their iconic Superman tale, "For The Man Who Has Everything" come to life as Kara falls under its power.

Then, see how Kara overcomes the Black Mercy's hypnotic fantasy with the help of her adoptive sister, Alex.

The final clip shows the death of Kara's aunt, Astra, at the hands of Alex, though J'onn J'onzz/Hank Henshaw takes the blame when Supergirl arrives on the scene.

"Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.
