There’s going to be an all-new Wolverine at the movie theater this fall. Several Wolverines, in fact, with the release of MGM’s long-delayed Red Dawn remake. To get people excited, the studio has debuted a pair of images, one featuring stars Josh Peck (The Whackness), Josh Hutcherson (Hunger Games) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Avengers) while the below shows Hemsworth rocking the machine gun.
Here’s the official synopsis:
In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerrilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
The film was actually shot in 2009, long before Hemsworth or Hutcherson were bankable stars, but was put on hold because of MGM’s money troubles. The studio also digitally changed the invaders from Chinese to North Korean.
The film, which marks stunt coordinator Dan Bradley’s first outing as a director, is set to finally debut Nov. 21.
