Summit Entertainment has officially released the teaser poster for RED 2, director Dean Parisot's sequel to the surprise-hit 2010 action-comedy loosely based on the DC Comics miniseries by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. The poster was previously spotted in May at the Cannes Film Festival.

RED — it’s an acronym for “retired, extremely dangerous” — centered on former CIA agents targeted for assassination because of the secrets they know. Directed by Robert Schwentke, the $60 million movie exceeded box-office expectations, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide.

The follow-up reunites Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren “as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.” They’re joined by newcomers Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung-Hun Lee, Neal McDonough and possibly Anthony Hopkins.

RED 2 opens Aug. 2, 2013.
