When Marvel unveiled the first round of covers and storyline titles for its various Legacy series, fans noticed that the storyline for The Punisher #218 was titled "The Punisher: War Machine." The comic's cover, a homage to Iron Man #282, further teased Frank Castle donning the iconic War Machine armor.

In an interview with Newsarama, the comic's creative team of Matthew Rosenberg and Guiu Vilanova not only confirm that yes, Frank Castle has somehow found himself in possession of James "Rhodey" Rhodes' armor, he's going to be more than happy to use it to do what he does best.

"I love War Machine and Rhodey," Rosenberg said. "I love him as a character and what he stands for. In a lot of ways, he is this optimistic view of what our government and our military stand for. Like Cap, he is the best of us going above and beyond to keep all of us safe and free. And obviously, he is much more than that too."

"But none of that is what Frank is," the writer continued, getting to the crux of his and Vilanova's story. "Frank is the inverted nightmare version of that. He is all the anger and hatred and vengeance that is built into our society, personified. The Punisher brings up a lot of uncomfortable questions about who we are as a society and what we are willing to let happen and what we'd like to see done... This is a look into how easily War Machine can become overshadowed by the Punisher when it falls into the wrong hands."
