Entertainment Weekly reports the actress, known for her roles in House of Sand and Fog and on the Syfy drama The Expanse, will play Farah Madani, the mother of Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah), a Homeland Security agent who's vexed by Jon Bernthal's Frank Caste.

Farah is described as an Iranian who spent most of her life in the United States, where she built a successful psychiatry practice. Both roles appear to have been created for the Netflix series, rather than pulled from the comic book source material.

News of Aghdashloo arrives a week after the teaser trailer for The Punisher debuted with the release of The Defenders, the eight-episode miniseries that brought together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to save New York from the city-destroying scheme by the Hand.
