The first clip for Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, the drama about the unusual trio who created the iconic DC Comics hero, has debuted. The clip sees Wonder Woman’s three primary architects -- Dr. William Moulton Marston, Elizabeth Marston and Olive Byrne – debating the viability of the character that embodied many of Marston’s ideals, but not the norms of the time.

The film stars Luke Evans as Dr. William Moulton Marston, Rebecca Hall as Elizabeth Holloway Marston and Bella Heathcote as Olive Byrne. William Marston was a psychologist and inventor who sought to shake up the superhero norms of the ‘40s by introducing a strong feminist character into the mix. His wife, Elizabeth Marston, is credited with giving him the idea. Byrne, his lover, supposedly first opened his eyes to the possibility of comics.

The documentary comes right on the heels of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros.’ first major DC Comics Extended Universe success in that it has seen praise from critics and audiences alike, as well as a healthy box office lifespan. Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as the eponymous hero who departs the mythical island of Themyscira to seek justice in the war-torn world of mankind.

Debuting in theaters on October 13, Professor Marston & the Wonder Women is a production of Stage 6 Films directed by Angela Robinson and starring Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, Bella Heathcote, J.J. Field, Oliver Platt and Connie Britton.
