Batman: The Dawnbreaker #1 tells the story of a Bruce Wayne who finds himself fueled by tragedy, and powered by the emerald ring of a Green Lantern. This ring, however, seems unconcerned with protecting his bearer's opponents from deadly harm -- indeed, it seems more than willing to go along with Bruce Wayne's homicidal tendencies than it is interested in encouraging him to employ less lethal actions.

In the 1994 Elseworlds story Batman: In Darkest Night, we were presented with an alternative universe in which an adult Bruce Wayne is chosen by Abin Sur’s power ring, and launches his crime-fighting career as a Green Lantern.
