When the first season of Preacher premiered, its future seemed uncertain, but fans of the show were gifted with a second season. Those fans can breathe easy, because while AMC has not yet announced Season 3, the cable network has been getting ready for production on more episodes of the blasphemous action/comedy.

This most recent season of Preacher has taken place largely in the Big Easy, which is also where the show is filmed. Even though the story has taken the character far in terms of time and space, principle production continues to take place in New Orleans, including scenes like the recent steamy and controversial scene involving Jesus Christ.

Season 3 will also be filmed in New Orleans, with pre-production starting in early November, and principal photography starting up on January 5 of next year. Though the paperwork was filed in July, the renewal has yet to be touted by the network.

Just because the show is shot in New Orleans doesn't mean it necessarily has to take place in New Orleans, but recent episodes have heavily foreshadowed Jesse's grandmother Marie L'Angell as a new villain. His grandmother and her terrifying minions operate off of an old Louisiana plantation, and are the subject of one of the most well-regarded stories of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Vertigo comic.

Preacher stars Dominic Cooper as Preacher Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip, and Joe Gilgun as Cassidy the Vampire. It airs Monday nights on AMC.
