The following contains major spoilers for Power Rangers #22, available now from BOOM! Studios.

For all the horrifying enemies that the Power Rangers have made over the years, they have found just as many truly astounding allies. From Eltarian legends such as Zordon and Zelya to more terrestrial heroes like Grace Sterling, the Rangers have always been able to count on more than just each other. Unfortunately for the Omega Rangers in particular, their track record with taking on new allies is less than stellar, although that trend might finally be turning around. Not only is Journey proving to be far more than simply a helpless child the Omegas rescued, they might even be more powerful than the Rangers themselves.

With the emergence of the Death Ranger thanks to Andros' betrayal, the Omega Rangers have found themselves staving off a terrifying new enemy. As seen in the pages of Power Rangers #22 (by Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, Walter Baiamonte, Sharon Marino, Sara Antonellini, and Ed Dukeshire), this has left them completely unaware of the villains who now threaten to take over Safehaven. The fanatical Followers of Vox have already made their way to Eternity Point and are only moments away from releasing their master from his prison when Safehaven's would-be saviors take action. Although the young Kevor and Journey may not seem like much on the surface, they quickly prove to be more than capable of taking down Vox's devotees. This is especially true after the latter's latest explosive transformation.

When Zack and Trini first discovered Journey in Power Rangers #18 (by Ryan Parrott and Walter Baiamonte), they were merely an infant orphaned by war on their home planet. Unbeknownst to the Omegas who thought they'd have plenty of time to figure out parenting, Journey's species is one which undergoes a rapid aging process. Within days, Journey had gone from barely a newborn to a fiery preteen who could not comprehend why their adoptive parents were struggling at every turn.

Now it appears that there is even more to Journey than meets the eye, as her latest bout of superhuman aging has also come with newfound superhuman abilities. There is always the possibility that the power Journey has discovered is only temporary, but there is no doubt that the electrifying display of battle prowess they display ends in a devastating defeat for her opponent. By the time Journey and the others learn what has happened to the Omegas, they don't hesitate to call upon the Mighty Morphin team for additional help. From the looks of things so far, however, they may not end up needing it as much as they think.

Journey's story is certainly one of the more interesting that the Rangers have come to know, and given enough time it could be one of the most important as well. Considering everything Journey has experienced in their admittedly short lifetime, it only makes sense that they would be drawn towards taking up arms as a Power Ranger. There are already plenty of Morphers just waiting to be claimed out in the cosmos where Journey is already at home.

On the other hand, the Omegas have set the precedent that the world of the comics has more than just the Rangers fans know from the small screen to offer. It's also undeniable that Journey would be the perfect place to start if a new team did emerge. The only real concern there is when it comes to whether Journey will eventually make a name for themselves as a Ranger simply doesn't have an answer yet. Assuming Journey stops aging at the rate they are, there isn't any reason their future won't be as bright as any other cosmic hero. If not, the Omegas will have more than just the threat of the Death Ranger or Dark Specter to deal with.
