The latest Power Ranger looks to be the most lethal of them all, and they haven't even made a proper introduction yet.Writer Paul Allor (G.I. Joe, Secret Empire: Brave New World) posted a series of photos on Twitter showcasing the upcoming new addition to the Power Rangers universe -- the Death Ranger. The new Ranger is described as being nonbinary and using they/them pronouns, as does their entire enigmatic alien race. Decked out in a black and gold version of the Omega Rangers' armor and sporting a menacing, skeletal grin on their helmet, the Death Ranger's appearance is far from what fans of the franchise are used to.RELATED: The Power Rangers are Finally Facing the Worst Part of Being Superheroes

The Death Ranger is slated to debut in the pages of Power Rangers UNLTD Death Ranger #1, written by Allor and featuring art from Katherine Lobo (Killchella, Power Rangers Universe). A synopsis from publisher Boom! Studios gives fans a brief glimpse into what to expect, explaining that, "THE LEGENDARY OMEGA RANGERS defended the universe from evil thousands of years ago, the six of them using their elemental powers to protect others from sinister forces. But that all changed when one key member turned on the others, seduced by the death-defying powers of the Rangers' greatest foe."

Boom! Since it began, the series has produced multiple branching titles and miniseries, including two currently ongoing titles, Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers. Boom! Studios has also introduced exciting new characters and concepts to the Power Rangers mythos, including the Omega Rangers themselves and the now-iconic alternate Tommy Oliver known as Lord Drakkon.

Power Rangers UNLTD Dark Ranger #1 is set to hit store shelves on Aug. 31.
