On the clown shoe-covered heels of the preview, Fox and MGM have released the first full-length trailer for Poltergeist, the remake of Tobe Hooper's 1982 horror classic.

Judging by this footage, director Gil Kenan's version doesn't look as if it departs wildly from the original. The TV screen as larger and flatter, the dark forces interfere with a smartphone, but most of the hallmarks remain the same.

Produced by Sam Raimi, Poltergeist stars Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, Saxon Sharbino, Jane Adams, Kyle Catlett and Kennedi Clements. It opens July 24.

Updated to add the international trailer.

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (“Spiderman,” “Evil Dead”, “The Grudge”) and director Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.
