Pokémon Legends: Arceus' boss fights introduce a new combat format to the series, mixing traditional turn-based Pokémon battles with real-time action. When strange lightning strikes Noble Pokémon of the Diamond and Pearl Clans, players are tasked with creating balms and engaging these frenzied Pokémon in battle. Players travel across Hisui to learn more about the cause of these five frenzied Pokémon and try to quell them, encountering the likes of Bug/Rock-type Kleavor to the giant Avalugg.

The final boss fight of the main story pits players against a new Omega Forme for either Dialga or Palkia. Prior to this fight, players will have had a chance to catch one of these legendaries based on which clan they chose after being exiled from the Galaxy Team. The remaining legendary turns into its Omega Forme at the Temple of Sinnoh and is identified as the cause of the Noble Pokémon's frenzies. Here's how to defeat Omega Palkia or Dialga and save Hisui from the destruction of space-time.

Breaking Down the Fight Against Omega Dialga or Palkia

The fight opens with the Omega Pokémon teleporting up close to attack the player. It will then summon massive balls of energy that encompass a large area of the battlefield. Sometimes, there will just be one energy ball; other times, there will be a row of smaller ones that cascade across the length of the arena. Players cannot afford to be hit by these attacks or remain stationary. Once the energy impacts with the ground, the blast area becomes encompassed in swirling purple flames.

Other than the energy projectiles, players will also need to watch out for shockwaves that pulse outward from the Omega Pokémon. Similar to Arcanine, the Omega Pokémon will eventually charge a major attack that the player must disrupt by throwing as many balms as possible. Doing so will cause the Omega Pokémon to finally tire, providing an opportunity for the player to engage it in a Pokémon battle.

Once the Omega Pokémon's frenzy meter is emptied, players can use the Omega Ball they crafted to catch the legendary. Once captured, Dialga or Palkia will revert to its regular form.

Strategies for Defeating Omega Dialga or Palkia

Player throwing Space Balm at Omega Palkia in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

The fight against the Omega Pokémon does not add anything players have not seen previously. For example, Lilligant emitted a shockwave players had to dodge over, Arcanine blocked paths with whirling flames and Avalugg targeted players with projectiles. All of these attacks combine for an ultimate showdown against the Omega Pokémon, which uses them on a grander scale.

Players should run clockwise or counter-clockwise around the Omega Pokémon throughout the fight. This allows players to easily dodge falling energy blasts or shockwave bursts while also having a clear shot to consistently throw balms.

Once players wear down the Omega Pokémon, they can enter a Pokémon battle. Players should use whichever legendary they caught previously to fight the Omega Pokémon, which will be level 65. The player Pokémon will likely have to endure a hit from the Omega, but players can immediately counter with a one-hit knockout attack. With the Omega Pokémon stunned, players can drain the Omega Pokémon's frenzy meter significantly until it's ready to capture.
