Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the newest game in the franchise. It was released on January 28th, 2022 and many Switch players have been enjoying it. Changing up the formula from the traditional Pokémon games, there are a lot of new things for fans to do, but some things always stay the same.

One of the most important things that players should know is the different types of Pokémon there are, as they make a huge impact when it comes to the game's combat. Fire type Pokémon have always been very popular, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus offers some great examples to choose from.

10 Quilava

Anime Pokemon Ash's Quilava Attack

The Fire type starter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, who was also a starter in Pokémon Gold and Silver, is Cyndaquil, which evolves into Quilava. The quickest way to obtain Quilava is by choosing Cyndaquil at the start of the game and evolving it. However, if players choose one of the other starter Pokémon in the beginning of the game, they won't lose their opportunity to add a Quilava to their team. They'll have to wait until they beat the main story, but players get a couple opportunities to get Cyndaquil again in Jubilife Village or a Space-Time Distortion. If players choose not to evolve Quilava into Typhlosion right away, it can use some powerful moves, such as Overheat and Flamethrower. Quilava's base stats are 58 HP, 64 Attack, 58 Defense, 80 Special Attack, 65 Special Defense, and 80 Speed.

9 Monferno

Monferno in the Pokemon anime

Monferno is a Fire type monkey that is originally from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. One of the three starters in that game was Chimchar, which can evolve into Monferno. With Pokémon Legends Arceus taking place in Hisui, which eventually becomes Sinnoh, the setting of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, it makes a lot of sense that players would come across Monferno on their journey. They can obtain Monferno by first catching Chimchar at the Deertrack Heights in Obsidian Fieldlands and then evolving it. A couple of strong Fire moves Monferno can use are Flame Wheel and Flamethrower. Monferno's base stats are 64 HP, 78 Attack, 52 Defense, 78 Special Attack, 52 Special Defense, and 81 Speed.

8 Ninetales

Ninetales is a Fire fox that has been around since Pokémon itself as it was introduced in the original games, Pokémon Red and Blue. Evolving from Vulpix, there are two ways that players can obtain Ninetales in the newest installment of the franchise. They can either catch Vulpix and evolve it with a Fire Stone or catch Ninetales directly at Firespit Island in the Cobalt Coastlands.

Ninetales can use strong fire moves such as Flamethrower and Fire Blast. Its base stats are 73 HP, 76 Attack, 75 Defense, 81 Special Attack, 100 Special Defense, and 100 Speed.

7 Rapidash

Rapidash is a Fire type horse that has also been around since Pokémon Red and Blue. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there are two ways to get it. Players can either catch it at Horseshoe Plains in Obsidian Fieldlands or evolve a Ponyta. It can battle against other Pokémon with powerful moves such as Fire Blast and Flare Blitz. Rapidash's base stats are 65 HP, 100 Attack, 70 Defense, 80 Special Attack, 80 Special Defense, and 105 Speed.

6 Flareon

Flareon

Eevee is one of the most likable Pokémon among fans, with the main reason being that it can evolve into many different types of Pokémon, all of which are of a different type. Eevee's Fire type evolution, which has been around since Pokémon Red and Blue, is Flareon. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players can get Flareon by giving a Fire Stone to Eevee, which can be caught in multiple locations such as the Horseshoe Plains in Obsidian Fieldlands and the Crossing Slope in Cobalt Coastlands. It can use moves such as Flamethrower and Mystical Fire to burn other Pokémon to a crisp. Flareon's base stats are 65 HP, 130 Attack, 60 Defense, 95 Special Attack, 110 Special Defense, and 65 Speed.

5 Hisuian Typhlosion

Hisuian Typhlosion

When players evolve Quilava, it becomes Typhlosion. While fans have known Typhlosion since Pokémon Gold and Silver, they'll notice that there are quite some differences with this evolved Generation II starter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Rather than having the version of the Pokémon they are used to, players will instead be able to evolve Quilava into a new Hisuian form.

For a few generations now, there have been different versions of certain Pokémon depending on the region they are in, with Hisuian Typhlosion being one of the most recent examples of this. Hisuian Typhlosion's base stats are 73 HP, 84 Attack, 78 Defense, 119 Special Attack, 85 Special Defense, and 95 Speed.

4 Magmortar

Magmortar Pokemon

Magmortar was first introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It is evolved from Magmar, which in Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be found at Firespit Island in the Cobalt Coastlands. In order to evolve Magmar into Magmortar, players will need to use a Magmarizer on it. Magmortar's strongest Fire moves consist of Fire Blast and Flamethrower. Its base stats are 75 HP, 95 Attack, 67 Defense, 125 Special Attack, 95 Special Defense, and 83 Speed.

3 Infernape

When players evolve Monferno, it becomes Infernape, which is the last Pokémon it can evolve into. If players don't have Monferno, they can catch Infernape directly by going to the Ramanas Island, an area located in the Obsidian Fieldlands. Infernape shares the moves that Monferno had but it also gains more upon evolving, such as Flare Blitz. Infernape's base stats are 76 HP, 104 Attack, 71 Defense, 104 Special Attack, 71 Special Defense, and 108 Speed.

2 Hisuian Arcanine

Hisuian Arcanine

The second strongest Fire type Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is Arcanine, which was introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue. However, similar to Typhlosion, it is a Hisuian version of the burning tiger that players are able to add to their team rather than the original. It can be evolved from the Hisuian version of Growlithe by giving it a Fire Stone. Its strongest Fire moves consist of Flamethrower and Flare Blitz. Hisuian Arcanine's base stats are 95 HP, 115 Attack, 80 Defense, 95 Special Attack, 80 Special Defense, and 90 Speed.

1 Heatran

Heatran stares straight forward in Pokémon

Heatran is the only legendary Fire type in Pokémon Legends Arceus, so it shouldn't be a surprise that it is also the game's strongest Fire type Pokémon. Originally from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, players of its new prequel can catch it on Firespit Island in the Cobalt Coastlands after beating the main story. Heatran's strongest Fire moves are Magma Storm and Flamethrower. Its base stats are 91 HP, 90 Attack, 106 Defense, 130 Special Attack, 106 Special Defense, and 77 Speed.
