Playstation Magazine Features “Darkness” & Paul Jenkins Script

No matter where you look, Darkness is coming. One of the new places you can look is the April, 2006 issue of PlayStation Magazine, which features a Darkness cover and nine whopping pages of coverage.

Top Cow Productions’ smash-hit property, The Darkness, is the first PlayStation 3 game to grace the cover of the prestigious magazine, on sale now. The Darkness video game, developed by Starbreeze and published by 2k Games, is slated for release as a launch game with Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 3. Darkness comic book writer Paul Jenkins has written the script for the game.


The Darkness features Jackie Estacado, a mafia hitman who inherits incredible powers on his 21st birthday. Estacado gains access to a dark, otherworldly dimension, and the attendant demons there to do his bidding. The comic, which Top Cow started publishing in 1996, has sold over eight million units worldwide, and earned numerous awards.


“I’m an avid gamer myself, and I’ve sampled several playable levels of the Darkness video game,” said Top Cow President Matt Hawkins. “It truly kicks ass, and it’s great additional gratification to see the folks at The Official PlayStation Magazine recognize it as well with a massive, nine-page article. With the mighty Starbreeze engine and 2K Games marketing might, I’m sure this game will be a huge hit. I have to give a lot of credit to Rich Liebowitz and Dan Jevons over at Union Entertainment for putting together the deal, Andy Babb at 2K Games for having faith and shepherding the project there, the mighty Paul Jenkins for writing a killer script for the game and, of course, Johan Kristianssen and his amazing crew at Starbreeze for making such a sweet game.”
