Disneytoon Studios, an animation division of Walt Disney Pictures, is charting course for space. At the company-run D23 Expo's animation presentation, executive John Lasseter revealed plans for a Cars/Planes spinoff movie set in outer space. The film hasn't been given a title.

Lasseter emphasized the research into real-life aviation that went into the film, and then showed a demo reel that he called a “Speed Test” — featuring two jets racing through a desert landscape, and then leaving the stratosphere and journeying into space. A title card read: “Disney: Space,” but was quickly joined by more words — ultimately reading, “This Space to Be Filled by a Title When We Think of One.”

“It is harder to come up with a title then it is to go to space,” Lasseter said jokingly.

Parked in theaters now, director Brian Fee’s Cars 3 stars Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Jenifer Lewis, John Ratzenberger, Lloyd Sherr, Michael Wallis, Paul Dooley, Kerry Washington, Nathan Fillion and Lea DeLaria.
