The premiere of “Wonder Woman” is more than eight months away, and star Gal Gadot already faces some stiff competition for the heroine’s lasso and tiara — from a toddler.
When his 3-year-old daughter Nellee wanted to dress as Wonder Woman for Halloween, photographer and digital artist John Rossi didn’t simply make a run to Walmart. Instead, he spent $1,500 for a highly detailed hand-crafted leather costume based on director Patty Jenkins’ upcoming film … and then he kept going.
As detailed at Fulltime Photographer, Rossi staged an epic photo shoot in which Nellee recreated scenes from the trailer. That would be no simple task with an adult model, but working with a child comes with other considerations. Like nap time.
“So here’s the thing: We have her snacks,” Rossi explains in a behind-the-scenes video. “We’re hoping that she lasts. It’s almost 10:30; her nap time is at noon, so we’ll see if we can get these shots. We’re going to rush through everything and see if we can get it done.”
As you can see in the video, and from the finished photographs, Nellee was a consummate professional. Heck, before the first shot was even taken, Nellee and her mother had already spent hours studying the trailer so she could get the poses and expressions just right. According to Rossi, the entire project took about two months to complete.
It may be a few years before Nellee is big enough to step into Gadot’s boots. However, if Warner Bros. needs a Wonder Girl for the sequel, we know just who to call.
Arriving June 2, 2017, “Wonder Woman” stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Lisa Loven Kongsli and David Thewlis.
