Pixar has debuted new concept art from The Good Dinosaur in this Los Angeles Times interview with Peter Sohn, the studio veteran who officially took over as director in October following the removal of Bob Petersen.

With the the change in personnel came a change in story as well, although the film still focuses on a dinosaur and his pet human in a world a killer asteroid never struck the Earth. "The heart of the story remains the same," Sohn said. "It's always been about this young dinosaur growing up. But the world itself has changed a lot. Nature has become a character."

In addition to the director swap, The Good Dinosaur was delayed 18 months. Changes like this aren't uncommon, but as the Times points out, this one created a ripple effect: 50 people were laid off, Pixar didn't release a film this year, and Andrew Stanton's Finding Dory was pushed back to 2016.

"When Bob was taken off, I was supporting the film as best I could," Sohn said. "It felt like, this child, this film still needs to be raised. It was just about how to take care of the thing at that time. ... Trying to keep the original vision of this film intact and trying to plus it as well."

The Good Dinosaur is currently scheduled to stomp into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.
