Air New Zealand and The Hobbit are making the skies a bit less friendly. No, airline hasn't hired orcs as flight attendants, but it does have gigantic images of the dragon Smaug plastered on the side of planes now.

This is the first time fans have gotten a good look at all of the dastardly dragon, voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch in the second installment in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. The image was created by special effects super-studio Weta, which has handled all things Middle-earth going back to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Check out the video for a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at how the dragon made his way onto the aircraft.

This is not the first time The Hobbit and Air New Zealand have teamed up. Last year, in anticipation of the first film, Jackson appeared in a Middle-earth-infused pre-flight video for the airline.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens Dec. 13.
