With a new show ("Hand of God") set to premiere on Amazon, actor Ron Perlman was present during the Television Critics Association press event. As often happens when Perlman is near a microphone and the press, the subject of the long-delayed "Hellboy 3" came up. This time around, though, Perlman's answer (reported by SlashFilm) cut through all subtlety.

"Let me make the record clear," Perlman said. "I don't want to do 'Hellboy 3.' It's a pain in the ass to put that makeup on and take it off. But I feel we're obligated to finish the story. That's it. End of conversation."

But, as with all conversations about "Hellboy 3," that was not the end. Perlman then addressed what it was like being asked about the project all the time, even if the barrier keeping the film from production remains as strong as ever.

"I got no problems with forcing the conversation, as you can tell," said Perlman. "We're in the business of moving mountains. Those of us who are used to working in mainstream film and television. Don't come to me with details and problems. Just tell me how we move the mountain."

The last film, "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," opened back in 2008. Perlman, now 65 years old, admitted that director Guillermo del Toro doesn't see an age limit when it comes to getting the gruff actor back in the hellish makeup.

"Because del Toro says: Put the makeup on, you can shoot me in a wheelchair and I'll still be Hellboy," revealed Perlman. "I guess the only cutoff point is when they actually close the box. If you don't see me get up and go, 'Hang on, I was kidding,' then I'm still ready."

Perlman also opened up about his obligation to the franchise in an interview last month with Spinoff Online, saying, "I don't want to go back and put on four and a half hours' worth of fucking makeup every day. I don't want to do that. I want to do that as much as I want a colonoscopy. But we have to! In my mind, it's not even negotiable."
