If you like the "John Wick" and "Taken" brand of revenge thrillers, then get ready for "Peppermint."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lakeshore Entertainment has acquired the rights to "Peppermint," billed as a "female 'John Wick.'" "Taken" director Pierre Morel is set to helm the action movie, based on a script by "London Has Fallen" co-writer Chad St. John.

"Peppermint" is described as a revenge story that centers on a young mother who now has nothing to lose on her journey to "take from her rivals the very life they stole from her."

It's just one of several in the new slate of action films featuring women as the lead characters. Just recently, action fans were treated to intense trailers for "Atomic Blonde," starring Charlize Theron, which will be in theaters in July. Also coming to theaters is the Halle Berry film "Kidnap," about a mother who goes to great lengths to save her kidnapped son.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is yet another film focusing on a mother saving her child -- "Highway One," in development by Amblin Entertainment, which features a veteran trying to save her kidnapped daughter.

Lakeshore is hoping to have "Peppermint" in production by fall.
