Peach Momoko has turned Gwen Stacy into some of Spider-Man's greatest villains in stunning new variant covers.

Marvel has unveiled five character design sheets created by Momoko that see Gwen Stacy transform into five different Spider-Man villains, including Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Vulture, Rhino and Kraven the Hunter. The character designs will be turned into special design variant covers for each issue of the upcoming Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones series, which launches in March 2023. "When designing the Gwen-villains, I wanted to make sure the original villain’s color palette was mainly used and give the energy, youth, and fun that Gwen represents," Momoko said.

Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones Marks the Next Chapter for Ghost-Spider

Marvel announced Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones as a five-issue limited series by writer Emily Kim and artist Kei Zama in Nov. 2022. A sequel to 2022's Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse, the new series will follow Earth-65's Gwen as she comes face-to-face with her villainous variants from across the multiverse. The synopsis for the first issue reads, "GHOST-SPIDER’S LIFE TURNS UPSIDE DOWN! Ghost-Spider comes face-to-face with some of the deadliest Spider-Man villains, including Doc Ock, Sandman, Vulture and more! But wait… Why do they all look like…Gwen?! Writer EMILY KIM (SILK) and artist KEI ZAMA (AVENGERS MECH STRIKE) take Gwen down a twisted path as she must stop whoever is cloning her into infamous Marvel villains!"

"I was a little nervous taking on Spider-Gwen because she’s such an iconic hero," Kim previously said. "But the rich story premise and fantastic team has made the process a blast. I’ve quickly fallen in love with Gwen and her unique voice and am excited for people to see how she handles a crazy slew of Gwen clones."

Zama added, "There’s a lot of fun things about drawing Gwen Stacy and Ghost-Spider. I’m especially exciting to draw bold battle scenes of Ghost-Spider and come up with ways to create exciting compositions. It’s also really fun to draw the expressions of Gwen Stacy. I'm really glad to draw these new villains designed by Peach Momoko. I didn't expect to collaborate with her in this way."

Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones #1 features cover art by David Nakayama and additional variant cover art by Elena Casagrande, Greg Land, C.F. Villa, Brian Stelfreeze and Bengal. The issue releases March 1, 2023, from Marvel. The second issue follows on April 5, 2023, with the series concluding later in July.
