Though he had gone on record as stating "Logan" would be his final time portraying the X-Men's leader Professor Charles Xavier, Patrick Stewart has already begun to walk back those statements. First, the actor said he's open to the idea of playing Prof. X opposite Ryan Reynold's Deadpool. Now, Stewart has opened the possibility of bringing the character to life again, this time on television.

"Legion" star Dan Stevens, who portrays Prof. X's son David on the critically acclaimed series, happened to be a guest on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" alongside Stewart. When discussion turned to the possible Deadpool appearance (Stewart teased, "It's not for me to say."), Stevens politely inquired, "What about Prof. X in 'Legion?'"

"Technically, Sir Patrick plays my father," Stevens continued after some excited urging from Stewart. "Prof. X is David Haller's father in the Marvel Universe. So, essentially, I've got a job offer for Patrick."

Asked by Corden is he would be interested in appearing on the show, Stewart's reply was an enthusiastic, "Absolutely! 100%!"

Will this result in an actual guest appearance? Who knows, though the obvious excitement exhibited by Stewart when the possibility came up was undeniable, apparently leaving the ball firmly in FX and "Legion" creator Noah Hawley's court.

Directed by James Mangold, written by Michael Green, Scott Frank, James Mangold and David James Kelly, and starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Dafne Keen and Stephen Merchant, “Logan” is in theaters now.

Starring Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Katie Aselton, Jeremie Harris, Bill Irwin, Rachel Keller and Amber Midthunder, “Legion” airs Wednesday evenings at 10PM on FX.
