Paramount Pictures this morning announced release dates for three "Transformers" sequels.

"Transformers 5" will open June 23, 2017, followed by "Transformers 6" on June 8, 2018, and "Transformers 7" on June 28, 2019.

These will be the first fruits of the writers room established nearly a year ago, under the guidance of Akiva Goldsman, to map out an expanded "Transformers" cinematic universe, which will include an animated feature. Hasbro Studios President Steven J. Davis revealed in October that the next decade of the franchise had been plotted out, with "Transformers 8" already in the works.

Michael Bay, who's helmed every installment of the blockbuster series to date, confirmed just last month that he'll step behind the camera once again for "Transformers 5." However, he insists it will be his last, saying, "I have to pass the reins to someone else."

Paramount's four "Transformers" films have grossed a combined $3.761 billion worldwide.
