Warner Horizon is banking on the continued popularity of public domain with its plans to develop a fantasy series that promises a darker take on L. Frank Baum's beloved Oz novels.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Red Brick Road is billed as "a continuation of the Wizard of Oz story but told in a Game of Thrones fashion, filled with politics, intrigue and violence." However, details are being kept under wraps.

The project was created by Rob Prior, who's worked as a concept and comic book artist. Red Brick Road has Mark Wolper and Roy Lee (Bates Motel) signed on to executive produce along with Adrian Askarieh who has a film called Leonardo da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever set up at Warner Bros. with Lee.
