The role of a right-hand man is one of the most important roles of a pirate crew. Every pirate crew has a right-hand man, who is the strongest member of the crew after the captain. The first mate or the right-hand man has several roles to fulfill. In One Piece, we have a lot of first-mates and some of them are among the most powerful characters in the series.
There are many pirate crews whose members still remain unknown to this day, and their reveal might send shockwaves throughout the entire fandom. In this post, we will be discussing the strongest right-hand men in One Piece. Let's begin—
11 Vergo
First up on our list is Vergo. Vergo was a member of the Donquixote Pirates. He was among the very first people to side with Doflamingo. He was working as a spy inside the Marines for Doflamingo. Vergo was the captain of G-5 and a Navy Vice-Admiral. He was highly respected by the Marines.
Vergo had no devil fruit, but he was very proficient at using Haki. He could cover his entire body in Haki, and he was considered by Doflamingo to be powerful enough to beat Trafalgar Law. In the end, Vergo was killed by Law.
10 Aladine
Aladine used to be the first mate of Sun Pirates that were led by Jinbe. Aladine is a very loyal character and he is dedicated to serving his captain and crew. Aladine is capable of using Fish-Man Karate, and he has shown his skills several times.
After Jinbe left to join the Straw Hats, he became the captain of the crew. Aladine aided the escape of the Straw Hats from Whole Cake Island and showed his leadership skill in the absence of his captain, Jinbe. He definitely deserves a spot on the list.
9 Killer
Killer is the right-hand man of Eustass "Captain" Kidd. He is a member of the Worst Generation, making him only the second non-captain to be a part of the list. Killer has been seen using two scythes as weapons. He has a bounty of 200 million beris, which is really impressive.
Killer took the alias of Kamazou after he was forced to eat a failed SMILE. Killer fought against Roronoa Zoro, and he was able to put up a good fight against him. But, Zoro's strength proved too much for him and he was knocked out.
8 Jesus Burgess
Jesus Burgess is one of the members of the Blackbeard Pirates. Burgess was among the first members to join Blackbeard's crew. Currently, Burgess is the commander of Blackbeard's first ship. He is the lowest-ranked Yonkou commander on the list because he is still weaker than most other right-hand men.
Burgess doesn't have any notable feat so far. He was completely overwhelmed in most of his fights. He lost badly against Sabo and it is fair to say that he was lucky that he wasn't killed in that fight. Burgess is able to use both Armament and Observation Haki.
7 Jinbe
Jinbe is a former Warlord of the Sea. He has been a pirate for a long time. Jinbe was a part of the Sun Pirates that were by Fisher Tiger at that time. Jinbe has several feats to his name. He was present at Marineford during the Paramount War. Jinbe was indebted to Whitebeard and wanted to help him save Ace.
Jinbe has clashed against Gekko Moria, and he was able to beat him rather easily. At Whole Cake Island, he was unfazed even when he was confronted by Big Mom. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
6 Roronoa Zoro
Roronoa Zoro was the first person who was recruited by Luffy. Zoro dreams of becoming the "Strongest Swordsman in the World." He has a unique style of fighting and one that requires three swords to fight. Zoro is one of the two non-captain characters who were a part of the Worst Generation.
Zoro is able to use two types of Haki. Zoro possesses insane durability as we have seen him tanking many strong attacks. Currently, Zoro possesses Wado Ichimonji, Enma, and Shodai Kitetsu. He has fought many strong enemies like Pica, Killer, Kaku, etcetera.
5 King
Next up on the list King. King is an all-star and one of the best fighters of the Beast Pirates. He is also known as King "The Wildfire." He possesses Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon. He is able to produce fire from his body.
King hasn't gone all out so far in the series. He showed off his devil fruit powers when he flew to the location of Big Mom's ship and threw it back down. King also possesses a katana, but he is yet to use it in battle.
4 Ben Beckmann
Ben Beckmann is the first mate of the Red Hair Pirates. He has the highest IQ of anyone in East Blue. Ben Beckmann uses a gun in combat. Ben Beckmann has not been involved too much in the series, but some of the things that he has done warrant him a high spot on the list.
Ben Beckmann was able to shock Admiral Kizaru with his speed. Also, Kizaru momentarily halted his assault on Monkey D. Luffy when Beckmann asked him to do so. However, we are yet to see him in a high-octane fight.
3 Charlotte Katakuri
Charlotte Katakuri is one of the Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates. Katakuri has an astronomically high bounty of 1,057,000 beris. Katakuri boasts plenty of feats to his name. He was undefeated throughout his life until he faced Luffy, which is just incredible.
Katakuri has the power of Mochi Mochi no Mi that allows him to control mochi at will. It is a special paramecia type devil fruit and Katakuri has awakened it. Katakuri is able to use all three forms of Haki including the advanced levels of Observation and Armament Haki. He also wields a trident called Mogura.
2 Marco
Marco is the former first division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. He is also known as "Marco the Phoenix." His epithet comes from his devil fruit which is Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix. It is a mythical zoan type devil fruit that is supposedly rarer than a logia type devil fruit.
Marco's devil fruit allows him to heal his body back to normal after taking damage. This ability alone makes him a top-tier character in the series. Marco is able to use two types of Haki. He was able to hold his own against Admiral Kizaru without any difficulty.
1 Silvers Rayleigh
Topping our list is none other than the first-mate of the Roger Pirates, Rayleigh. He is one of the most wanted pirates in the world because he said on the crew of the Pirate King. Rayleigh has all three kinds of Haki, and he has unlocked the advanced levels as well.
Rayleigh taught Luffy about Haki and how to use it. He clashed against Kizaru, and clearly hand the upper hand for the most of the fight. Despite not having a devil fruit, Rayleigh is among the strongest characters in the world.
