The first cities and dates have been revealed for The Marvel Experience, billed as "a first-of-its-kind, hyper-reality attraction."

At a press conference held today at the Marvel booth at New York Comic Con, producer Hero Ventures announced the tour will hold previews Dec. 12-Jan. 2 in Phoenix before staging its world premiere Jan. 9 in Dallas. From there, it will head to San Diego and San Francisco before moving to the East Coast. Additional stops will be announced later; the tour will remain in each city for about three weeks.

First mentioned in August 2013, The Marvel Experience is characterized as a “first-person superhero adventure,” with audiences becoming part of the action through state-of-the-art multimedia technology, including a 4D motion ride and 3D-animated features. Covering more than 80,000 square feet, the attraction is designed to resemble a S.H.I.E.L.D. mobile command center, with a Dome that reaches more than six stories in height. Inside, there will be a maze of connected domes that lead guests through interactive games and original animated short films that lead to the centerpiece, the motion ride.

“There’s so much to be excited about here and a great many elements that literally don’t exist anywhere else,” Joe Quesad, Marvel's chief creative officer, said in a statement. “Fans will love seeing iconic Marvel Super Heroes in action against the backdrop of this first ever Hyper-Reality Tour. Nothing else compares!”
