Hiccup, Astrid, Gobber and, most importantly, Toothless are headed for new adventures courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.
Announced at New York Comic Con, the stars of the popular children's novels turned Dreamworks Animation's hit film franchise are making the shift to comics in a series of original graphic novels co-written by "How to Train Your Dragon" writer/director Dean DeBlois and Richard Hamilton, writer of the animated series "Dragons: Race to the Edge."
The first graphic novel, "How to Train Your Dragon: The Serpent's Heir," arrives in 2016 and takes place "mere hours after the events of How to Train Your Dragon 2 as Hiccup and Toothless are thrust into their new roles as chief and alpha."
"I am excited to be writing this next chapter in the 'How to Train Your Dragon' universe," DeBlois said in a statement. "Dark Horse is a perfect home for these new original stories and Richard and I are thrilled to know they will be in the hands of our incredible fans very soon."
