With film credits that include "Blade II," "Hellboy" and "Pacific Rim," Guillermo del Toro is the kind of director you'd want for an episode of your superhero television series. That's especially the case if, like "Arrow" Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim, you've recently worked with the filmmaker on a project -- say, the upcoming Netflix animated series "DreamWorks' Trollhunters."

"I'd be lying if I said I never broached the topic with him," Guggenheim told ComicBook.com at New York Comic Con. "[But] he's so busy, and he is filming right now actually up in Toronto."

Although there are no immediate plans for del Toro to helm an episode of the CW drama, Guggenheim didn't rule out the possibility it might happen at a later date. "He's got a standing invitation," he said.

Elsewhere at the convention, Guggenheim and del Toro's current collaboration, "Trollhunters,” debuted its first trailer. The series will arrive Dec. 23 on Netflix.
