Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace will star in Dead Man Down, a revenge thriller helmed by Niels Arden Oplev, who directed the actress in the original adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Penned by J.H. Wyman, a writer-producer on Fox's Fringe, the $30 million drama follows Victor (Farrell), right-hand man to a New York City crime boss who's seduced and blackmailed by a crime victim (Rapace) seeking retribution.

Dead Man Down is financed by IM Global, with Neal H. Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, I Am Legend) and Wyman producing. It's set to begin shooting in early 2012.

Farrell, who was seen most recently in Horrible Bosses and Fright Night, is filming Total Recall. Next appearing in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, which opens Dec. 16, Rapace is now shooting Prometheus.
