WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix's horror movie Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight finds young Zosia battling her inner demons as she tries to muster enough courage to fight back against mutated brothers in the Polish backwoods. Her camping crew has been torn apart by the twins, but Zosia eventually manages to garner the weapons needed to defeat them. Unfortunately, as brave as Zosia is, the movie wastes its big heroic moments when it's time for her to murder the twins.

After attempting to get a phone from a gutted Daniel with Julek's help, Zosia is knocked out. One of the brothers is about to kill her, only for Julek to stab him, but the twin incapacitates the teen and chains him up. Zosia wakes up to find her knife in Julek's body and offers him a mercy killing, using the knife to then pick the lock and escape.

Rather than flee, she opts for revenge, grabbing a cutlass and sneaking out of the basement. She finds one of the twins sleeping off the knife wound Julek inflected. This leaves him vulnerable, and Zosia plunges the blade into his stomach several times. However, audiences don't see her gutting him, and there is very little blood splatter on her face.

It's an odd decision since the film had so many graphic kills beforehand. It's weird not to witness anything here, making what should be a satisfying revenge anticlimactic. Most leading women in horror, like Laurie from Halloween and Sidney from Scream, usually have glorious moments where fans get to see them lay into their antagonists; however, that moment is underwhelming with Zosia.

There is a second chance for her to get her hero moment, but unfortunately it falls flat as she flees in a cop car, running over the next twin. While audiences she her reverse the car over him, the camera doesn't show the kill itself. Instead it focuses on her in the car, treating the death like she's going over a speed bump.

There's no catharsis at all as viewers only get a glimpse of this twin's bloody face in the aftermath. It takes away from her journey since viewers wanted Zosia's adventure to end on a triumphant note where she gets gory revenge for the injustices the twins dole out. Instead, she gets away on a flat note.

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight stars Julia Wieniawa-Narkiewicz, Michal Lupa, Wiktoria Gąsiewska, Stanislaw Cywka and Sebastian Dela. It is now streaming on Netflix.
