Classic video games are all the rage and Nintendo Switch Online is covering all the bases. The company recently added four classic games that are free to play for subscribers, increasing its robust library of classic SNES and NES titles. Fans can now jump back into Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Mario's Super Picross, The Peace Keepers and S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team.

Old-school gamers who once thrived on these classics and excited new players eager to explore will find everything they're looking for with these new oldies.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

The 1995 classic, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, follows Donkey Kong's sidekick Diddy Kong and Diddy's girlfriend Dixie Kong on a quest through Crocodile Island. Their goal is to rescue Donkey Kong after he's kidnapped by the game's big bad, King K. Rool.

In this pirate-themed, side-scrolling 2D game, the player controls either Diddy or Dixie -- each with special moves and attributes -- across eight worlds and 52 levels to battle various enemies.

Mario's Super Picross

Lovers of number-puzzle games will take great delight in Mario's Super Picross, a 1995 Super Famicom game which has never before been released for Western players. As players fill in the numbered grids by following clues and prompts, they'll be rewarded with an image reveal. they find themselves rewarded with an image reveal.

The game starts out easily enough, but progression offers more difficult puzzles. However, players don't have to go it alone. Connecting a second controller allows gamers to bring in a friend to help work through puzzles and expose the images.

The Peace Keepers

Released in 1993 for the SNES, The Peace Keepers is the third game in the Rushing Beat trilogy. A high action beat 'em up, The Peace Keepers follows former DM Corp experiment, Flynn, and three other people wronged by the corporation as they fight for vengeance. In this two to four player game, there are a variety of paths that can be taken to produce varied endings and bosses.

S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team

Produced in 1990 for the NES, S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team is a futuristic shooter set in the year 2029. When aliens led by villain Vile Malmort attack New York City, a team of humans and machines assembles to meet the aliens head-on.

S.C.A.T. can be played solo or with a friend. In single player mode, gamers can choose between Arnold or Sigourney, who fly through the air shooting down enemies and searching for special containers that contain power-ups, such as more powerful replacement weapons. Players will be able to play against or with each other online, communicate over voice chat and backup their save data to the Nintendo Cloud, making it a lot more convenient than it was in the 1990s to connect with fellow gamers across the world.
