Following the series' absence in Marvel's recently released November solicits, it has been confirmed that "Nighthawk" will end with issue #6. Launched in May, Nighthawk followed Squadron Supreme member Raymond Kane as he took on violence and police corruption head on in Chicago.

Both series writer David Walker and artist Ramon Villalobos discussed "Nighthawk's" end on Twitter. Walker pointed out that "Nighthawk" was supported by Marvel every step of the way, but sales were not there.

Marvel has been very supportive of Nighthawk, especially Axel, who has been in our corner. But the market is not supporting the book.— David F Walker (@DavidWalker1201) August 27, 2016

Bottom line -- sales figures on NIGHTHAWK were low. Books with low sales often face a grim fate. That's the nature of the business.— David F Walker (@DavidWalker1201) August 27, 2016

But the end of "Nighthawk" won't be the end of the series' stars, Nighthawk and Nightshade.

All I can say is this, both Nighthawk & Tilda will be around. Marvel has made it clear that they want more of both.— David F Walker (@DavidWalker1201) August 27, 2016

Series artist Villalobos also discussed the series, praising it as a "radical book" and saying that Marvel was always "wildly supportive."

By now youve probably seen nighthawk wont continue past 6. Couple thoughts, thanks to all that supported/continue to support the movement— i feel like frank (@RamonVillalobos) August 27, 2016

Villalobos said that he worked hard to get the book covered outside of traditional comic sites, even considering one option that he deemed "a bit much."

Fun fact, at one point i considered writing a concerned letter to fox news about a comic my five year old read. Decided that was a bit much— i feel like frank (@RamonVillalobos) August 27, 2016

"Nighthawk" #5 arrives on September 28 and the final issue hits stores on October 26.
