"Star Wars" producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has given her strongest indication yet that Disney is getting ready to announce the third Star Wars anthology movie.

Speaking in a recent interview with with MTV, Kennedy refused being drawn into the speculation that the film will focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi, but she did reveal a possible timeframe for when we might find out.

"You know, I think we are getting close," the producer said. "My hope would be sometime around the Summer. I never want to predict the creative process 'cause it is its own thing, so we are in the midst of those discussions right now."

Kennedy also refuted the notion prevalent among some fans that Lucasfilm has firm longterm plans in place beyond the ninth installment in the Star Wars saga, which is currently expected to be released in 2019.

"I'm sure everybody would love for me to say 'Oh yeah, we've got this figured out for the next 20 years.' No, we spend a lot of time talking, debating, watching, looking at what connects with ourselves, with audience. All of that is a part of our decision-making. So, we are asking those questions right now," Kennedy said.

“Star Wars: Episode IX” is scheduled for release in 2019, and will be directed by Colin Trevorrow. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the eight installment in the saga, is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
