For decades toys and collectibles have been used as a way to tie into successful films as a way to make more cash off of kids wanting to continue the adventures at home. That's still the case today with action figures in the works based on upcoming movies like "Man of Steel," "The Wolverine" and "Iron Man 3." While some of those kids grow out of toy collecting, others stay with it and continue craving collectibles based on their favorite movies old and new. That's why, in addition to new movies, companies also put out toys, statues and replicates based on classic movies and characters like the Universal Monsters, Rambo, "RoboCop," "Back to the Future" and more. Read on for a look at Toy Fair 2013's first look at what toys the silver screen will inspire this year.

MAN OF STEEL | A good deal of what we've seen from Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" has come from the world of collectibles. A few weeks back, a slew of images were released, but DC Collectibles showed off some real whoppers at this year's Toy Fair. Check out these statues based on Henry Cavill's Superman, Michael Shannon's General Zod, Russell Crowe's Jor-El and Antje Traue's Faora. The statues, which feature a skin-like application on the faces and hands, will be out this spring in time for the film's June 14 release date.

IRON MAN 3 | About a month ago, Diamond Select Toys released silhouettes of two upcoming Marvel Select figures based on "Iron Man 3." The company debuted the figures at Toy Fair, showing off Iron Man in his Mark 42 Armor as well as pre-Iron Patriot War Machine. Expect even more from the company who also showed off a secret figure of Hugh Jackman from "The Wolverine" that wasn't allowed to be photographed.

IRON MAN 3 | Hasbro's already shown off the first half of the "Iron Man 3" Marvel Legends figures and we knew from sources that the company will also produce toys of Ultron, Iron Patriot from the film and Iron Man Mark 42. Thanks to press images, we can now see those three figures as well as the Iron Monger build-a-figure. Of course, that's not all, blind-boxed Micro Muggs featuring 24 unique armors will go on sale this spring. If that's not enough armor goodness, though, it will also have two waves of Iron Assemblers for sale in 2013 which feature swappable parts that fit with every other figure in the line!

PACIFIC RIM | Guillermo del Toro hopes to make a splash with his giant robots versus giant monsters film "Pacific Rim." NECA hopes for the same thing with their line of action figures based on the film. The company had three of the Jaeger mechs on display including Gypsy Danger, Crimson Typhoon and Striker Eureka. There are also plans for monster figures, but they're being kept under wraps for now. The first series will be out in June, a month before the film hits on July 12 while the second debuts in September.

STAR WARS | Heading into Toy Fair, Hasbro made a lot of "Star Wars" fans happy by announcing The Black Series, a line of 6-inch figures, something Star Wars has never had. We already saw X-Wing Pilot Luke, but the company revealed images of Darth Maul, R2-D2 and the Sandtrooper from the first wave. On top of that, the 'Bro added to the Black Series by including a line of 3 3/4-inch figures. The first wave is made up of Anakin Skywalker, Arena Padme and Clone Trooper Sergeant from "Episode II," Yavin Ceremony Luke, Bespin Trap Darth Vader, Bigs Darklighter and the Clone Pilot Jag.

THE LONE RANGER | NECA will double up on "Lone Ranger" figures. In addition to quarter scale toys based on Armie Hammier as Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto but also a 3 3/4 inch line that includes the hero, his Native American sidekick and villain Butch Cavendish (William Fichtner) as well as a series of highly articulated horses including Silver and Scout.

WOLVERINE | With James Mangold's "The Wolverine" barreling down the pike towards its July 16 release date, expect an onslaught of collectibles to drop in the summer months. As they did for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" Hasbro will handle the mass market toy license and has a variety of figures in the works. The 3 3/4 inch All Stars line includes Wolverine, Logan, Silver Samurai and a ninja while the 6-inch Marvel Legends Wolverine line boasts Wolverine, Cyclops, Phoenix Cyclops, Rogue, Emma Frost, Sabertooth and Puck!

THE AVENGERS | Though "The Avengers" has been out of theaters for a while now, Hasbro still has plenty of action figures to keep the Marvel Studios love going. The main 3 3/4 inch line will welcome Tornado Blade Captain America, Red Skull, Hawkeye and Thunder Crusader Thor into its ranks as well as a Micro Muggs 4-pack featuring Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and Hulk.

THE AVENGERS | NECA's line of 1/4 scale figures based on Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" continues on with an Iron Man figure. The piece comes complete with LED lights and ratchet flaps in the back to adjust for flying and plenty of articulation.

BATMAN | In addition to giant Iron Man, NECA also has a Batman figure based on the character's appearance in the 1989 Tim Burton film. Looking exactly like Michael Keaton under the cowl, this highly articulated version of Batman will look great alongside the Avengers figures or the Adam West version as seen in the Toy Fair 2013 TV post! The figure, which has not been fully approved by the licensor at this point, will be out in the summer.

CARRIE | Opinions may vary over the necessity of remaking Brian De Palma's 1976 horror classic "Carrie," but no one can argue that NECA's figures based on the remake's star Chloe Grace-Moretz in the title role aren't spot-on recreations. There will be two figures based on the October 2014 film, one with happy Carrie and the other post-pig blood incident. The 6.5-inch figures will be sold separately and debut this August.

KICK-ASS 2 | Chloe Grace-Moretz made two appearances in the NECA Toy Fair booth, first as Carrie, then as Hit Girl from "Kick-Ass 2." The line takes inspiration from the Jeff Wadlow-directed film -- which is itself based on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s comic book -- will also include Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) and The Motherfucker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). The figures are set to hit in June, the same month the film debuts.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION | Had Paramount's "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" debuted last year when it was supposed to, we'd already be knee deep in action figures based on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ray Park, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Byung-hun Lee, RZA, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson and the rest. The delay didn't stop Hasbro from putting together and showing off a whole mess of movie-based action figures, though. The 3 3/4 classic figures already have four waves ready to go. Cobra Commander, Duke, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Zartan, a Joe Trooper and a Red Ninja make up the first. The second includes Battle-Kata Roadblock, Firefly, Flint, Ninja Duel Snake Eyes and Sneak Attack Storm Shadow. Wave Four consists of Ultimate Cobra Commander, Ultimate Duke, Ultimate Firefly, Ultimate Flint, Ultimate Storm Shadow, Ultimate Roadblock Kwinn, a Crimson Guard, a Data Viper, a Cobra Combat Ninja and Budo Samurai Warrior. Finally, the fourth features Joe Colton, Blind Master, Kim Arashikage, Lady Jaye, a Night Viper, a Cyber Ninja, a Dark Ninja Warrior and a Red Cobra Trooper. As if all that weren't enough, Ninja Showdown 3-packs like Cobra Invasion Team, Dojo Battle, Tactical Ninja Team and a fourth unnamed one.

GHOSTBUSTERS | The Mattycollector-exclusive Ghostbusters action figure line didn't have any presence at Mattel's Sunday Collector's Night, but that doesn't mean there wasn't any Ghostbusting gear around. In fact, they had the full size Ecto Goggles replica on display. When wearing the goggles, you can actually see Slimer flying around, even splattering on your lenses. If you own the PKE Meter as well, Slimer will have different movements and you'll also see the Library Ghost doing its spectral thing.

BACK TO THE FUTURE | Like all great scientists, Dr. Emmett Brown was always looking for ways to make his inventions more efficient. In the case of his time traveling DeLorean, getting plutonium proved to be rather hazordous so he took a journey into the future and came back with a Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor. Diamond Select Toys has created a replica of the Mr. Fusion as seen in the Back to the Future films. The company is currently trying to figure out a way to get it to smoke or steam just like it does in the movies for that added movie experience!

PREDATOR | The ninth and tenth waves of Predator figures from NECA both break new ground in their own ways. The ninth, as we've discussed before, will feature the first figures based on Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch from "Predator" in "clean" and muddy versions with different weapons and accessories as well as a water damaged Jungle Hunter Predator. Series 10 takes its cues from the old Kenner line of figures modeled after the Lava Planet, Nightstorm and Hive Wars Warrior Predators. They will be out in May and August respectively. May will also see the release of the Predators Trophy Wall Diorama which will give your Preds a place to show off their skull collectibles.

PROMETHEUS | NECA's line of Prometheus action figures is aiming for two more waves in 2013 if all goes well. The second, which hits in March, will include a gnarly looking Fifield based on Sean Harris' appearance in the Ridley Scott film while the third includes Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw complete with axe! At the moment, the third wave's release date is TBD, which might not bode will for the line as a whole or might just mean they haven't figured out the scheduling at this point.

ALIEN | Not to be outdone by the Predator or Prometheus lines, "Aliens" is getting in on the NECA action figure action full boat in 2013. April will see the launch of the main line while Marines vs. Warriors 2-packs will start seeing shelves this summer. The line includes Bill Paxton's Hudson, Michael Biehn's Hicks and a variety of xenomorph aliens including one with head-splattering action!

RAMBO | When it comes to Vietnam veterans with a penchant for getting in and out of sticky situations with a good deal of knife throwing and arrow shooting, John Rambo's your man. The star of four films featuring Sylvester Stallone gets the action figure treatment once again thanks to NECA and their upcoming 7-inch figure hitting in May. He comes with all things you'll need to truly kick ass including giant guns, lots and lots of bullets, huge knife and iconic headband.

ROBOCOP | NECA's RoboCop figures are a lot of fun, but what's a hero without a good villain? To give Robo a sparring partner worth its salt, the toy company will release an ED-209 toy this summer. The bot looks like he walked right off the screen and will probably not have the same trouble with stairs under your control as it did in the 1987 film.

UNIVERSAL MONSTERS | The ghouls will continue to come from Diamond Select Toys this Halloween season. Their Universal Monsters line will feature a Mole Person from the 1956 film "The Mole People," the Hunchback from Notre Dame as seen in the 1923 film that kicked off the Universal Monsters franchise and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde from "Abbot and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" which come with complimentary bases. DST also has plans for another black and white box set of the Metaluna Mutant from This Island Earth, the Invisible Man and the Phantom of the Opera. 2014 offerings Son of Frankenstein and an all-new, more detailed and articulated Creature from the Black Lagoon were also given a preview.

FORREST J. ACKERMAN | Back before everyone with an internet connection and a message board handle considered themselves a super-fan, Forrest J. Ackerman was doing the good work, collecting all things sci-fi and horror. He turned it into a career by starting a magazine called "Famous Monsters of Filmland" and even went on to appear in several films including "The Howling." Dark Horse Deluxe celebrates the original super fan with this September-shipping statue of Ackerman holding an issue of his own magazine!
