SportsCenter has confirmed speculation that a new trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will premiere on Monday evening. Though the announcement only hints at "something special," the odds on favorite is that it will indeed be a trailer. The latest preview will air during halftime of the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, followed quickly by it's appearance online.

In addition to the announcement, the network has shared a brand new poster for the hotly anticipated new chapter in the "Star Wars" saga. The epic image features new characters like Rey, Finn, Captain Phasma, Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren, and BB-8 alongside iconic ones like Princess Leia and Han Solo. Check it out below.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” sees the return of franchise veterans Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker as they're joined by newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow.

The film is set for release Dec. 16 in France, Dec. 17 in the United Kingdom and Dec. 18 in North America. A marathon of all six previously released "Star Wars" films leading up to the "The Force Awakens" has recently been confirmed in the United States for Dec. 17.
