If you thought "Powerless" only made references to Batman, think again. As we see in the latest promo, the NBC workplace comedy also makes room for Superman jokes.

As two figures whom we presume to be DC Comics characters Jack O'Lantern and Crimson Fox fight from building to building above her, Vanessa Hudgens' Emily Locke wonders, "What's that up in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane?" Danny Pudi's character then swoops in with the punchline: "You seriously can't tell the difference between a bird and a plane?"

Set within the DC Comics universe, "Powerless" centers on the everyday lives of people in a world populated by super-powered heroes and villains, including the aforementioned Jack O'Lantern and Crimson Fox. The sitcom follows Hudgens as Emily Locke, who begins her new job as director of research & development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, which specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer as they try not to become collateral damage in the battles between superheroes and supervillains.

Beyond those direct connections to the DC Universe, the sitcom also features smaller nods, such as the Kane and Fingers Pub, a reference to Batman creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger, and a discussion of Wonder Woman's level of divinity.

Also starring Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches and Christina Kirk, “Powerless” premieres Thursday, Feb. 2, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
