Showtime and Titan Comics have announced that "Penny Dreadful" will return in a new comic book series, set six months after the show's finale that aired in June.Penny Dreadful's Co-Executive Producer Chris King and artist Jesús Hervás ("Sons of Anarchy") are working together to bring the story back to life in early 2017.RELATED: Titan to Launch “Penny Dreadful” Comic by Original Series ScriptwritersAfter the devastating events of the TV series finale, Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) attempts to cope with the loss of Vanessa Ives (Eva Green). Despite his grief, he's again tasked with fighting against creatures of the night. Showtime made the announcement via Twitter earlier today.

"Like all fans of 'Penny Dreadful', I am so thrilled that we're returning to the incredible world of the show," said "Penny Dreadful" comic editor, Lizzie Kaye in a press release.

"There are a lot of stories left to tell, and there is no one better to tell them than Chris King. What he's got planned will just take your breath away, and I can't wait for fans to see it all brought to life by artist Jesús Hérvas."

Titan Comics is known for publishing the "Penny Dreadful" prequel comics, as well as other comic book adaptations of other licensed works, including "Doctor Who."
