While Marvel Comics fans have had to piece together information about Fox's New Mutants from interviews and Instagram posts, there's one detail they now know for certain: when to expect the X-Men spinoff's first trailer.

Director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) revealed this morning that the first look will arrive Friday at 12:01 a.m. PST. "There’s Something New To Fear," he wrote in the accompanying caption, which seems like the perfect tagline for a film that's expected to play up the horror elements of the story. It's worth noting, too, that the teaser arrives on Friday the 13th.

The New Mutants is expected to draw inspiration from “The Demon Bear Saga,” the influential 1984 Marvel Comics storyline by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz in which the teenage students of Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters are isolated by a freak snowstorm, forcing them to overcome their differences to save themselves and their teammate Danielle Moonstar from a demonic bear that killed her parents.

Boone's version has been characterized as “a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe" that diverges significantly from the source material, with the young mutants recast as super-powered teens held against their will in a secret facility.

Opening April 13, 2018, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Anya Taylor-Joy (Atlantis) as Magik, Blu Hunt (The Originals) as Danielle Moonstar and Alice Braga (Queen of the South) as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
