As reported just last week, Rosario Dawson is also in negotiations to join The New Mutants as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a Marvel Comics character who's described as a mentor to the film's youngsters.

Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) revealed last week that the film, believed to be inspired by the 1984 Marvel Comics storyline "The Demon Bear Saga," will be "a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe." However, The New Mutants will apparently diverge significantly from that material, with one report offering this broad overview of the premise: “Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.”

The New Mutants is expected to begin production in July in Montreal, ahead of its release on April 13, 2018.
