Fans of the comics will be delighted to see that another teaser of Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” shows that the film is going to emphasize an aspect of Strange’s character that’s prevalent in the comics: his overwhelming desire to help people.

It would be incredibly simple to make Doctor Stephen Strange, the world’s greatest surgeon, into an arrogant show-off, but that isn’t really the case in the comics. Whether he’s trying to find a magical cancer-curing elixir to heal his best friend and valet Wong (“Doctor Strange: The Oath” by Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin) or, most recently, trying to save magic itself for the good of the universe (“Doctor Strange: The Last Days of Magic” by Jason Aaron and Chris Bacalao), Doctor Strange’s principal motive after becoming the Sorcerer Supreme is always that of helping other people -- a motive you might expect from anyone who’s taken the Hippocratic Oath. It seems Marvel Studios will be maintaining that motive in film adaptation this year. You can see for yourself in the latest TV spot.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock”), Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”), Rachel McAdams (“Sherlock Holmes”), Tilda Swinton (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”), Mads Mikkelsen (“Royal”) and directed by Scott Derrickson (“Sinister”), “Doctor Strange” opens on November 4 2016.
