The cast of Netflix's upcoming Marvel mini-series "The Defenders" continues to expand, with seemingly every major character from "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage" joining the fight against (or perhaps with?) Sigourney Weaver's still unnamed villain. The latest character to join the Netflix series' sprawling cast is Elodie Yung's Elektra.

This casting may come as a surprise to those that watched "Daredevil" season two, where Yung first appeared as the sai wielding assassin. That's because -- spoiler alert -- Elektra ended the season totally dead, but with her body possessed by the Hand and about to undergo a possible resurrection ritual (just like in the source material). Yung's addition to the cast means that viewers might not have to wait until "Daredevil" season three to find out what happens to Elektra next. It's now possible that her resurrection will take place in "Defenders" -- and that potential plot point is teased by the revelatory tweet itself, as it includes what looks like heartbeats in an EKG monitor.

The last few weeks have seen a number of new cast members added the the event series. Those additions include "Daredevil" alums Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Scott Glenn; "Jessica Jones" players Rachael Taylor and Eka Darville; and "Luke Cage" stars Simone Missick and Rosario Dawson. Even Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing, who will debut in next year's "Iron Fist," has joined the cast.

Executive produced by Douglas Petrie, Marco Ramirez, Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb, “Marvel’s Defenders” arrives on Netflix in 2017 and stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Simone Missick, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor, Scott Glenn, Jessica Henwick and Sigourney Weaver.
