Once you finish binge-watching all of Netflix's new "A Series of Unfortunate Events" after season one arrives on Friday, January 13, you'll be happy to know that another season of unfortunate events is on the way. Revealed during an interview between series writer Daniel Handler (who writes under the pen name Lemony Snicket) and Entertainment Weekly, it looks like season two will go where no adaptation of "Unfortunate Events" has gone before.

The first season of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" covers the first four books in the fan favorite series of young adult novels. If you remember 2004's live-action feature film "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," which starred Jim Carrey and Meryl Streep, then you know that film covered the first three novels in the series. So season one of the Netflix adaptation goes one book further than the feature film.

Season two, however, will go deep into unadapted territory. "It’s nice to go into something that hasn’t been adapted before," Handler told EW. "There’s a little feeling of, you have to be this tall to ride this ride."

Handler's already started production on season two, he revealed. "I am deep in season 2. I’ve been working in my own dining room with a team of writers I’m really loving on the next season, and we hope to get the go-ahead to do season 3, which... given how quickly young actors age and change, we’re trying to film everything as quickly as possible."

Handler also revealed what season two will cover: "The second season is laid out to be 10 episodes for the next five books, so it ends on 'The Carnivorous Carnival,' and the third season would be the rest of it."

The franchise's move from a feature film adaptation to a television series has worked out well, Handler said, and the "Series of Unfortunate Events" fits right in to today's television landscape. "You know, we approached various television makers back in the day, and the first question was always, 'Does their house have to burn down? Do they have to be orphans?' Pretty basic questions, just because the thought of TV then was so sunny," said Handler. "It’s been nice not to have those conversations."

In the meta-narrative of the tale, the book series is written and narrated by the fictional Lemony Snicket (Warburton) and follows the adventures, trials and tribulations of orphans Violet (Weissman), Klaus (Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire (Smith) as they try to uncover the secret of their parents’ deaths. The series was first announced back in June 2015.

Starring Warburton, Harris, Cusack, Weissman, Hynes, Smith, Aasif Mandvi, Catherine O’Hara, Don Johnson, Alfre Woodard, and more, “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 1 will debut January 13, 2017 on Netflix.
