Creator Matt Groening will follow up his work on "The Simpsons" and "Futurama" with an all-new animated comedy on Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new project already has the potential to earn a two-season pickup with a total of 20 episodes. However, no other details about the project have surfaced and Netflix declined comment.

Groening is best known for the long-lived television series "The Simpsons," which has run for more than 500 episodes and counting. His sci-fi comedy "Futurama" also ran for 124 episodes before being cancelled in its seventh season.

Groening's new series will join other original animated Netflix projects like "Bojack Horseman."
