NBC has ordered a six-hour miniseries from The Weinstein Company based on "The Reaper: Autobiography of One of the Deadliest Special Ops Snipers," Deadline reports.

Published in January, the book is the account of the military career of Nicholas Irving, the U.S. Army 3rd Ranger Battalion’s deadliest sniper, who amassed 33 confirmed kills during his four-month deployment in Afghanistan during 2009. His record earned him the nickname "The Reaper."Deadline notes The Weinstein Company was quick to snatch of the rights to the book, which arrived amid the blockbuster success of the Oscar-nominated "American Sniper."
