NBC Shelves Community to Clear Space for 30 Rock’s Jan. 12 Return

by  in TV News Comment

NBC is shelving Community to make room for the midseason premiere of 30 Rock. A network spokeswoman assures Vulture the low-rated, but much-loved, comedy is merely being put “on the bench for a bit” and will return.

When that might be is the big question. When the Peacock rolled out its Greendale-less midseason lineup on Monday, Community Executive Producer Neil Goldman tweeted, “Midseason schedule burn!” That was followed by star Alison Brie, who wrote, “Troy and Abed in the … summer??”

Community isn’t the only absence, however. Prime Suspect, the freshman remake of the acclaimed U.K. police procedural (it will be replaced on the Thursday schedule by an adaptation of John Grisham’s The Firm). Yet somehow Whitney remains, albeit at a new day and time (Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, beginning Jan. 11).

30 Rock returns Thursday, Jan. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. NBC’s midseason lineup can be found below.
