Weeks ahead of its network broadcast premier, NBC has opened up a new look at its DC Comics adaptation "Constantine."

Today, the network released the first look at actress Angelica Celaya's take on comic character Zed who joins Matt Ryan's John Constantine a few episodes in to the first season (via ComicBookMovie). Introduced in "Hellblazer" #4 by original series writer Jamie Delano, Zed (aka Mary Martin) is a psychic who helped Constantine find his missing niece; they quickly become romantically involved.

The character comes to TV after series original character Liv (played by Lucy Griffiths) was cut from the show after the first few episodes were filmed. At the time, Executive Producer Daniel Cerone described the character as a perfect foil for "bullshit artist" Constantine. "Zed is intuitive, she can detect bullshit," he said.

Check out a first look at Zed in the trailer and photo below, and stay tuned to CBR for more on "Constantine" as it nears its October 24 premier.
