NBC Returning to Midnight, Mass.

NBC is revisiting Midnight, Mass., the 2002 Vertigo miniseries created by John Rozum, Deadline reports. The network previously put an adaptation into development in 2009, but the project never made it beyond the script stage.

Written by Rozum and illustrated by Jesus Saiz and Jimmy Palmiotti, Midnight, Mass., follows husband and wife Adam and Julia Kadmon, world-famous occult investigators who live in the town of Midnight, Massachusetts. A sequel, Midnight, Mass.: Here There Be Monsters, was published in 2004, with art by Paul Lee.

Evan Daugherty, who co-wrote Snow White and the Huntsman, will pen the script for Warner Bros. Television and Gerber Pictures. Bill Gerber (Gran Torino) will executive produce, with Daugherty serving as co-executive producer.

“This is the third time that this has happened and hopefully this time will be the charm that sees this come to fruition,” Rozum, who will be executive consultant on the project, wrote on his blog. “I’m a bit more hopeful this time with the talent involved.”

The last time NBC and Warner Bros. took a stab at Midnight, Mass., Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts (Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies) were attached as writers.
